The result was keep. There is obvious consensus not to delete the material outright. Whether it should be merged or left as a standalone can be determined by a discussion outside of AfD. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 21:59, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

What makes this niche part of D&D verse notable? It's mostly WP:PLOT outside of the 'history of creation' part, but that's based on few mentions in passing/primary sources. I don't see any non-plot analysis of this construct that more in depth than a sentence or two. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:41, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

- Redirect/Merge to Forgotten Realms. It is merely the name of the world in which the Forgotten Realms setting takes place in, and when you take out all of the primary sourced (and unsourced), in-universe plot information, then its not a necessary WP:SPLIT from the primary topic. The bits of sourced information regarding its History would be useful to add to the "History" section of the Forgotten Realms article, though, and it would serve as a useful redirect. - Keep or merge/redirect to Forgotten Realms. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:27, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- Keep or merge to Forgotten Realms per above. BOZ (talk) 17:20, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- Merge the History section to Forgotten Realms#Geography; the rest is excessive in-universe info without demonstrated notability. No need for a spinout-article. – sgeureka t•c 22:25, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- Delete and then make a new redirect unless those involved with D&D actually show what information would be useful in merging. I see little need to retain anything currently due to failing WP:N and WP:NOTPLOT. TTN (talk) 22:51, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
- Delete looking through the sourcing, this doesn't appear to pass our notability guidelines and fails WP:PLOT. SportingFlyer T·C 11:53, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Merge (with a trim) to Forgotten Realms. Forgotten Realms#Geography links back to this article so it could be expanded if it could be sourced. In terms of reception/criticism of Abeir-Toril, besides blog posts/forum discussions, I didn't find anything on the continents Maztica or Zakhara even when I looked on JSTOR for articles on D&D and Orientalism (or other types of racial stereotyping). The only source along those lines I found is a Kotaku article on Chult (on the continent of Faerûn). Sariel Xilo (talk) 21:22, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comment In terms of what can be merged (per TTN), the history section which outlines the development of the geography and then a brief mention of the 4(?) continents. The brief overview can highlight themes, real world influence and when they were added to the game. Sariel Xilo (talk) 21:22, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Keep or Merge. Secondary sources exist. Actually, Abeir-Toril goes beyond the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, but I guess that would still be the best merge target. This is probably one of the most detailed fictional planets in Western Culture (even though the name often does not appear), so "niche part of the D&D verse" seems an incorrect description.
