Fails the notability standard per WP:NACADEMIC. I have found no significant coverage of Kelly's contributions to the mathematical field or his particular field of mathematics. Redirect to Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics, which I think (in its concurrent AfD) should be kept. This David Kelly should not be confused with the David Kelly from the University of Manitoba who has enough well-cited mathematics papers to make a case for WP:PROF#C1, nor with any of several other less-notable mathematical Davids Kelly. I could find no publications in Google Scholar for David Kelly from Hampshire College. He appears to be notable only for HCSSiM (unless you count the speed limit thing), making this a case of WP:BIO1E. —David Eppstein (talk) 23:56, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's a little weird that the MathSciNet page for the Manitoba David Kelly has a photograph that is pretty clearly the Hampshire College David Kelly. It's also weird that the MathGenealogy link in our article is dead. --JBL (talk) 00:20, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect its removal is related to the fact that Kelly's web page https://www.hampshire.edu/academics/faculty/david-c-kelly says only that he has "an AB from Princeton, an SM from MIT, and an AM from Dartmouth", with nothing about an MIT PhD. —David Eppstein (talk) 03:54, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- To clarify: I am in favor of either a plain "delete" or "delete and redirect". The article Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics already mentions that HCSSiM was founded by David Kelly. Selective merge into Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics: coverage of Kelly as a person is woven pretty heavily into the coverage of HCSSiM (as shown by my comment at the other AfD) and I think some portions of this article may be appropriate to merge there. As a second choice I'd be ok with a redirect without merge. --JBL (talk) 18:57, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This looks unlikely to end in a keep (and I don't see enough notability for one). The main question appears to be to what extent it should be a redirect/merge. Arguing against the redirect is the fact that the David Kelly at Manitoba appears to pass our notability criteria, with several papers having over 100 citations in a low citation field. David Kelly (mathematician) would be a natural place for this article, note that Manitoba's David Kelly appears to rarely use his middle initial. I would suggest that if we end this in a redirect (possibly with some merging), then it would be best practice to Move, then redirect from David Kelly (mathematics educator) (or similar) to Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics. I didn't mean to hold up the procedure. Redirection looks like a reasonable alternative to deletion to me, but I don't think the article title is a good reflection of the subject, and it looks like it could cause some mild later problems. If article history is preserved, then some limited merging could happen at any time after close of AfD. - As I wrote above, I am strongly against preserving the article history. These kinds of redirects are all too easy to undo. There is nothing in the David Kelly article that is worth preserving. The Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics article already mentions that HCSSiM was founded by "David Kelly, a professor emeritus of mathematics at Hampshire College."
