The result was delete. It seems like the references in the article haven't convinced anyone, and being a journalist who was killed is not a notability criterium. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:35, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

This is a WP:ONEEVENT and it should be covered in the larger article where the context is present. Akhiljaxxn (talk) 09:27, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

and redirect to Sriram Venkitaraman (for now)per WP:VICTIM, which states:A person who is known only in connection with a criminal event or trial should not normally be the subject of a separate Wikipedia article if there is an existing article that could incorporate the available encyclopedic material relating to that person.
For having a standalone article for the victim, persistent significant coverage is required. Here, K.M. Basheer doesnt have significant coverage. But there is coverage about "death of K.M. Basheer", and the accused Sriram Venkitaraman. All of this, in turn, is because of the accident and death of Basheer. After this AfD, a renaming discussion should take place for the article of Sriram Venkitaraman. —usernamekiran(talk) 06:49, 9 January 2020 (UTC)- updated vote —usernamekiran(talk) 22:35, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Delete : A non-notable journalist -- Padavalam Kuttan Pilla Talk 12:11, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
- Why the journalist isn't notable? Explain here, not just comments. Kutyava (talk) 12:17, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
- Delete when an article on a journalist only mentions there death it is clear they were not notable enough to merit an article. Wikipedia is not the news.John Pack Lambert (talk) 19:47, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- Strongly Keep: Hope there are enough references in the article. Many journalists have been killed in India recently for various reasons. This journalist is one of the last victims. I think it is not necessary to delete the article. -[[User:Akbarali]] ([[Talk:Akbarali|Talk]]) (talk) 06:53, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
