- Delete all and possibly listify -- clearly not suitable for categories, first and foremost because these lists aren't static. Cgingold (talk) 10:30, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

- Category:Los del Rio (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: Redundant category. Only holds the duo's page, their song, and their album category. Los del Río (note the spelling) alreay serves as a sufficient navigational hub. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 17:35, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: delete and merge back those articles which were moved into this category from Category:The Holocaust. –Black Falcon (Talk) 04:09, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Category:Groups targeted in the Holocaust (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: Overcatting (these articles work just as well in the main Holocaust cat), vague (there's "War crimes against Serbs", the same against Soviet POWs, "History of Blacks in Germany", "Disability", "Freemasonry", "History of gay men in Nazi Germany", so the sense of "targeted" is unclear) and there's also some POV going on - these are all articles on smaller groups (the major groups, like Jews, Gypsys, and political movements aren't there) so there's likely some POV going on here as well. MSJapan (talk) 15:06, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Delete. Too broad. Would articles about the Poles, Russians and Belarusians fit there, when Nazis killed millions of people from these nations? - Darwinek (talk) 19:39, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:People's Artists of Georgia to Category:People's Artists of the Georgian SSR
- Nominator's rationale: Rename. Change to actual (translated) name of this award. The actual untranslated name was საქართველოს სსრ სახალხო არტისტი. An accurate translation of this uses "Georgian SSR", not the expanded "Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic". (Kind of like the difference between using "Miss USA" and "Miss United States of America".) For more information, see People's Artist of the USSR, of which this award is a sub-type of. It's nothing to do with "Georgia" as an independent country. Good Ol’factory (talk) 09:59, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Rename per persuasive explanation. Cgingold (talk) 12:42, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Question: One of the parent cats is Category:Georgian culture, and I was about to switch that to one of the sub-cats, Category:Georgian artists. But of course, they're both part of the category structure of Category:Georgia (country), meaning that they're really intended for articles pertaining to the modern country of Georgia, not the former Soviet republic. So I'm not entirely sure that this category belongs anywhere in Category:Georgia (country), even though it's the direct successor to the Georgian SSR. Any thoughts? Cgingold (talk) 12:42, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Uh, oh. I think this entire issue just got a whole lot more complicated. If you look at Category:People's Artists of the USSR, there's a See also list of related categories (for various former SSRs). And three of them (those for Armenia, Russia, and Ukraine) state that the category is for recipients of awards from both the Soviet and post-Soviet eras. Are you entirely sure that the same doesn't obtain in Georgia, as well? Cgingold (talk) 12:52, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hm, no, I'm not sure of that, and in searching the web I'm finding a few references to currently-living people who are called "People's Artists of Georgia". I think it might be a good idea for me to withdraw this one, pending further investigation. I'll try asking the category creator if they have more information. I'll renominate if what I have said is correct; if it has been in use by Georgia, the current name is probably fine. Thanks for your vigilance. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:23, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Beauty and the Beast songs to Category:Songs from Beauty and the Beast

- Rename all per nom, consistent with naming convention. There are also 5 or 6 more sub-cats of Category:Songs from musicals that should be added to this CFD for renaming. Cgingold (talk) 08:29, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
