• Merge -- all the sub-cats of the target have only 10 articles. I do not know enough of Belgian TV, but the country is split into Dutch (Flemish) and French (Walloon) language speakers. I have to wonder whether we should have this tree at all. Instead the split should be by language, between French-language and Dutch-language categories, which would include those for France and the Netherlands respectively. If so, the target might be Category:2007 Dutch-language television series debuts. I do not know the subject and thus offer a theoretical solution. • Propose Merge Category:American war films & Category:American war drama films

Nominator's rationale: Two points:

a) I think it is entirely random which category a war movie is put in. It's not like there is a Category:American war musical films or Category:American war comedy films. 99.99% of war movies are inherently dramas, it's a serious subject. Without some indication of why a war film should be in one category (rather than the other), I'd argue that the two categories just be merged into one.

b) After doing some category assigning, it's still not clear to me whether this category is American war films or American war films. As in, are these American movies about war? Or movies about American wars? And there is no guidance provided on the Category or Talk pages. Because there are plenty of movies made in Hollywood that are not about wars fought by American military forces and the definition of what wars are "American" is a little fuzzy, too. 69.125.134.86 (talk) 21:06, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

• Propose merging Category:Romanian people executed by firearm, Category:People executed by Romania by firearm, Category:20th-century executions by Romania, Category:People executed by the Kingdom of Romania, Category:People executed by Romania by firing squad and Category:Romanian people executed by firing squad (some or all)

Nominator's rationale: Category:Romanian people executed by firearm is only a container for Category:Romanian people executed by firing squad, just like Category:People executed by Romania by firearm is only a container for Category:People executed by Romania by firing squad.

There are also overlapping categories Category:20th-century executions by Romania and Category:People executed by the Kingdom of Romania which contain the same individuals and also are tagged Category:People executed by Romania by firing squad. And while there is a subtle distinction between the two categories Category:People executed by Romania by firing squad and Category:Romanian people executed by firing squad (focus on Romanian people killed or a Romanian firing squad), in practice, there are a small number of people involved and they are placed in both categories.

I think in this instance, rather than making your decision based on this rationale alone, users need to click on the category links and see which pages are tagged with these different categories. • Comment. The entire "executions" tree has recently been made extremely complex with the creation of triple, quadruple, and even quintuple intersections. • Close request per Vegaswikian; this needs a larger discussion on how these multiple intersections ought to be handled uniformly - I am dubious that the method of execution is defining for most people executed; especially if it was the general method in use at the time and place (i.e., nothing "special" was cooked up for the person).
