- The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:23, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Sudeva Moonlight F.C. to Category:Sudeva Delhi FC
- Nominator's rationale: The new name for the football club Sudeva Delhi FC. source ArsenalFan700 (talk) 20:05, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page discussions. GiantSnowman 21:20, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support per CFDS C2D, match parent article name. GiantSnowman 21:21, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Question, do we usually keep football club categories that are so poorly populated? Marcocapelle (talk) 07:32, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- The club was recently promoted to the I-League so you can expect it to grow now. I know that is CRYSTAL but I'll work on this. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:10, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: keep. This close is no bar to a further nomination, as there is some support for merger to multiple parents, but a fresh discussion would be cleaner. – Fayenatic London 22:08, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Redundant category. Kepler-1229b talk 18:21, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Kepler-1229b: how is it redundant? There are currently
6five articles in its subcategories, should they be removed from the Gliese tree altogether? Marcocapelle (talk) 07:42, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose unless nom provides a satisfactory answer to the above questions. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:05, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support Yes they should.Kepler-1229b talk 18:20, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Since it is a parent category. Dimadick (talk) 17:31, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Procedural Oppose The subcats have open nominations where I'm not presuming the outcome. Once that sorts itself out, we can discuss the parent category. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:49, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Comment I propose simplifying the Gliese 581 system categories, I would also support merging.Kepler-1229b talk 18:18, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- Merged to all three parent categories? Marcocapelle (talk) 18:41, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- It's also overcategorising. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 20:38, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, I would not oppose that, with 5 articles it is a borderline SMALLCAT. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:43, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- There might not be anymore planets in the system. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 21:22, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Admin update. As a result of older discussions recently closed, the subcategories have been deleted and the contents have been upmerged to the nominated category. It now contains five articles. Thanks, Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:18, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:21, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Not defining - conferred upon all male members of the royal family on their 10th birthdays. Most of them are listed in Order of the Black Eagle. Rathfelder (talk) 17:41, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Delete, while there were also recipients outside the royal family, it isn't defining anyway. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:08, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Delete Non-defining and contributes to the immense category clutter to Victoria, Princess Royal, Leopold, Prince of Hohenzollern and the other articles in this category. Note that the recipients are already listified in the main article. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:41, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Delete this is another category that is generating huge amounts of category clutter.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:55, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Wikipedia slapping templates . Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:19, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Slapping aids to Category:Wikipedia slapping aids
- Nominator's rationale: This should not look like it were an article category when it in fact contains Wikipedia templates. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 13:22, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- As they are templates, alt rename to Category:Slapping templates or Category:Wikipedia slapping templates (and purge Wikipedia:Whacking with a wet trout). Marcocapelle (talk) 18:27, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Alt Rename Support any rename that adds "Wikipedia"; prefer Category:Wikipedia slapping templates though. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:44, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Alt Rename Category:Wikipedia slapping templates. Also, Wikipedia:Whacking with a wet trout should be in the text describing the category, not in the category itself.
William Allen Simpson (talk) 13:26, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- The latter is a good point, a note should be added {{see also|Wikipedia:Whacking with a wet trout}}. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:07, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Category:Monarchs of Georgia
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: do not rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:17, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Monarchs of Georgia to Category:Ethnic Georgian monarchs
- Nominator's rationale: rename somehow, "of Georgia" or "of Georgia (country)" is clearly wrong, we have Category:Kings of Georgia for that. The nominated category is much broader, it is an almost-container-category for various ethnic Georgian kingdoms and principalities throughout history. I am not sure whether Category:Ethnic Georgian monarchs is the ideal target, but it is the best that I currently can think of. Category:Kartvelian monarchs might be an alternative. - @Oculi: pinging fellow contributor in CFDS discussion. Marcocapelle (talk) 13:17, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose any use of georgian. As BHG stated in 2009_March_10#Category:Georgian_people, Georgian in the UK refers to the pre-Victorian period and thus is highly ambiguous. Oculi (talk) 15:44, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose using an "ethnic" qualifier. It would not be accurate to place such a label on people from an era when such terms were not used, especially considering that some scholars believe the Bagrationi dynasty originated from Armenia (to give one example). Based on other categories it should be "Georgian Monarchs" but seeing how that is not acceptable due to the ambiguity of the term "Georgian" I don't see why using "of Georgia (country)" is wrong here. Kaiser matias (talk) 18:46, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose support "of Georgia (country)" ("Kings of Georgia" does not seem to include, regents, pretenders, grand dukes and kings of sub-kingdoms e.g. Category:Kings of Kartli which are in this category) Hugo999 (talk) 20:05, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose The ethnicity of a monarch is often different than the primary ethnicity of his state. Dimadick (talk) 17:34, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose There never have been Kings of Georgia (state). However the content includes a Grand Duke title. Perhaps Category:Rulers in Georgia (country) might be an acceptable solution, but might be objected to as anachronistic; Or Category:Rulers in Georgian kingdoms. I dislike the idea of adding "ethnic". Peterkingiron (talk) 17:57, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. Ethnic qualifier is wrong by at least 2 accounts: it applies a concept forged in the late 19th to 20th century to people and polities centuries prior to that, and it implies assumptions that cannot be sustained as to the "ethnicity" of the peoples and the leaders of these polities. A title like Monarchs in the history of Georgia could be an option, but I believe that the present title is not that bad. It is understandable without ambiguity (nobody would assume that it refers to the U.S. state), and readers able to notice the difference between the 11th- to 15th-century Kingdom of Georgia and its predecessor and successor states would probably immediately understand the scope of this category. I also notice that this same article uses the sentence
Unification of the Georgian State
, so we may also use a similar construct, e.g.: Monarchs of the Georgian states, Georgian states monarchs. Place Clichy (talk) 16:53, 11 January 2021 (UTC) - Oppose monarch of a territory is fine; monarchs of whatever territories based on ethnicity is irrelevant. Category:Ethnic German monarchs and toss in not only the monarchs of old states of the HRE but add in the current Dutch, British, and some other monarchs as well just because someone can (presumably) trace ethnicity back to somewhere in (present?) Germany... Carlossuarez46 (talk) 18:40, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose — while at first glance this is an outlier (most are FOOian monarchs), there are many others of this form in Category:European monarchs. This is the standard form for Georgia, to distinguish from Georgia (state). We long ago decided not to use (ethnic) Georgian.

- The result of the discussion was: merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:47, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Afsharid appointed kings of Kakheti to Category:Kings of Kakheti and Category:Afsharid governors of Kakheti
- Propose merging Category:Afsharid appointed kings of Kartli to Category:Kings of Kartli and Category:Afsharid governors of Kartli
- Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, only 2 and 1 articles in these categories. Marcocapelle (talk) 12:03, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Comment The Afsharid dynasty (1736–1796) barely lasted 60 years. I doubt there is much scope for expansion here. Dimadick (talk) 17:37, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Suggest -- Merging all to Category:Rulers of Kakheti, which avoids the issue of whether they were individually independent or under Persian suzerainty and may give a properly populated category. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:04, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- They used the title king regardless whether they were independent or not, so there is no urgent need to rename kings to rulers. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:57, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

- Propose merging Category:Mayors of Jonava to Category:Mayors of places in Lithuania and Category:Politicians from Jonava
- Propose merging Category:Mayors of Kaunas to Category:Mayors of places in Lithuania and Category:Politicians from Kaunas
- Propose merging Category:Mayors of Klaipėda to Category:Mayors of places in Lithuania and Category:Politicians from Klaipėda
- Propose merging Category:Mayors of Panevėžys to Category:Mayors of places in Lithuania and Category:People from Panevėžys
- Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, just two or three articles in each of these categories and they are not part of a large overall accepted sub-categorization scheme. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:52, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Merge for Now While they would have more than five mayors, most would be non-notable. No objection to recreating any if they exceed expectations and ever get to 5+ articles. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:51, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename per nomination. IMHO, WP:THEMUSIC applies only to musical artists. – Fayenatic London 10:53, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Albums with cover art by The Designer's Republic to Category:Albums with cover art by The Designers Republic
- Nominator's rationale: C2A: Correct name is The Designers Republic. Trivialist (talk) 02:37, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Rename per WP:C2D as well, why haven't you listed it for speedy renaming? Marcocapelle (talk) 08:42, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Comment. Does WP:THEMUSIC apply to album cover art? If so, it should be Category:Albums with cover art by the Designers Republic. Good Ol’factory (talk) 06:20, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:13, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Propose Deleting/Listifying Category:Recipients of the Order of Albert the Bear
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OVERLAPCAT and WP:OCAWARD (WP:OVERLAPCAT and WP:NONDEFINING)
- The Order of Albert the Bear is a house order of the German Duchy of Anhalt given to local royalty and their relatives. Local articles like Leopold IV, Duke of Anhalt, and Leopold, Hereditary Prince of Anhalt, mention the award in passing so it doesn't seem defining and those articles are already somewhere under Category:Rulers of Anhalt. (It was also given as a diplomatic souvenir and is not remotely defining for Tewodros II of Ethiopia, Oscar II of Sweden and Albert I of Belgium). There wasn't a list so I created one right here in the main article for any readers interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:46, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Delete, another obvious case of WP:OCAWARD. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:43, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: delete, but I will merge the contents as nominated to be on the safe side. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:12, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Propose Upmerging Category:Recipients of the Order of the Dooranee Empire to Category:British military personnel of the First Anglo-Afghan War
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCAWARD)
- The Order of the Durrani Empire is an Afghan campaign medal awarded to British field officers and above during the First Afghan War by Shuja Shah Durrani of Afghanistan in gratitude for his restoration to the thrown. The articles tend to mention the award in passing or not at all so the award doesn't seem defining. In contrast, these officers participation in the overall war is prominently mentioned so they need to stay in that tree. The contents of this category are already listified right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:46, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Delete, another obvious case of WP:OCAWARD. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:44, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
