Nominator's rationale: There was no consensus to create this hierarchy at the recent Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 August 23#Purging nationality categories from Arab people. It was created by Puddefoot (talk · contribs) who was globally locked by Mykola7 for long-term abuse, see Special:CentralAuth/Puddefoot; their sock Yourexits (talk · contribs) which added to this category is now also blocked. – Fayenatic London 08:03, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reverse merge, the nationality subcategories also contain non-Arabs so Category:Arab people is false advertising. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:47, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per nom, on purely procedural grounds that this category is a duplicate of the merge target. My support for this nomination should not be regarded as me accepting the legitimacy of mixing up nationalities and ethnicities. I still think nationalities do not belong in the ethnicity tree, and agree with Marcocapelle that it's too bad no consensus was reached on that point. I think we should not categorise millions of Iraqi Kurds etc. as "Arabs" just because most Iraqis are native speakers of Arabic, but until we revisit that question, I procedurally accept the status quo.
