Uploaded as cc-by-2.5, but the given source only licenses it as cc by-nc-nd/2.5 (non-commercial, no derivative works), which is not accepted as a free license in Wikipedia. High on a tree 04:36, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. The page itself has a cc-by-sa-2.5 tag at the bottom of the right-hand menu. But under the photo itself it says cc-by-nc-nd-2.5. I'd say it should be deleted. – Quadell ^{(talk) (random)} 20:26, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfree image of a living person (to quote from the license template used for this image:"Please note that our policy usually considers fair use images of living people that merely show what they look like to be replaceable by free-licensed images and unsuitable for the project"). As an excuse, it is stated that this "is a reclusive author"; this claim is totally unsubstantiated. On the contratry, here are several photos of him speaking at a fairly recent public gathering, Google Image search finds many more photos of him posing on public occasions. (Also the uploader commenting "fair use images of the author are impossible to fi[nd]" while uploading a fair use of the author, and "It is widely used across the internet, and so may be free use" does not demonstrate a good understanding of fair use and copyright issues.)
