File:HarrowdownHill Field.jpg and File:HarrowdownHill Factory.jpg turned out to be copyright violations as screenshots of non-free videos. These files are incredibly similar to the deleted files, so it raises significant doubt of the uploader's assertion of own work. ℯ xplicit 06:44, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notes:
- Google cache of Skyscraper city forum post from 11 Jan 2007 which predates the 8 Spe 2007 upload date. Note www (.) skyscrapercity (.) com is blacklisted so the above URL doesn't work unless you replace "blacklisted" with the skyscrpaer city URL
- This site has File:HKDisneyHollywoodHotel Before.jpg but at a slightly larger size of 500x333 instead of the 450x300 uploaded here.

The article, The Haunting of Hill House, contained a screenshot of the intertitle. The editor who uploaded this file left a message in my talk page ("Copyrighted images....") in which he mistakenly thought the existing file needed to be replaced with a more acceptable file. It didn't. Unlike the screenshot of the title card, this file is a promotional photo (not a "poster") published in Netflix's Facebook account. Pyxis Solitary yak 08:58, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The file I uploaded is not a promotional photo, but a cropped version of the promotional poster. But the title card you uploaded is just as good if not a better representation of the show, as it includes de name of the show. Delete unless proper sourcing can be confirmed. The PD statement claims this is a derivative of a public domain work without providing any information of where the base image came from. Based on the timing of the subject's career (1979 to 1988 as stated at M. R. Uploader is asserting these images are under a free license with the same or similar source wording of "It's taken during a film shooting". And examination of the images indicate that these are screenshots taken by cell phone from video playback. The images have video playback artefacts. For example File:Hamom Sadananda.jpg appears squished as would be seen with playback of video at the wrong aspect ratio. Given the uploaders declarion of PD license on Instagram photos for other uploads, it's very likely the uploader is completely unfamiliar with copyright and licensing. ..except the file can't use PD-old-assumed because Fae is on a crusade against that template and PD-UK-unknown.. Given information Clindberg recently provided I'm somewhat more confident about PD-UK-unknown now, but to say the license is beyond reasonable doubt.. I don't know. The biggest risk is that I follow Clindberg's suggestion to have both PD-UK-unknown and PD-old-assumed. Because as soon as I (or anyone else) re-add PD-old-assumed, Fae will nominate it for deletion. Pinging User:Fæ and c:User:Fæ as he is named above, for his opinion on this deletion discussion. Based on the discussion held at commons village pump, there seems to be a consensus that the applicability of "public domain" tag is unquestionable. I really don't see any reason how User:Fæ can get this image from 1893 deleted from commons in future. --DBigXrayᗙ 09:23, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Two Commons administrators thought this was a copyvio and deleted it. Should you really trust us?

@DBigXray: If the author would turn out not to be unknown, PD-UK-unknown could be invalidated. If we would know the author wasn't unknown, but wouldn't be able to find a death date, PD-old-assumed could still be valid. And if somebody tags it for deletion, you never know what will happen. I think enwiki has some misconceptions about how Commons handles media files. You think we are all copyright experts. That's.. not entirely right. - Alexis Jazz 09:40, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
