Hi there

I was hoping you could help me, I am the communications manager of this organisation on this page Pharmacybrands (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

We did not load this content, and it is not factually correct. We do not know the author and when I try to change it, I get warning messages that I will be deleted as an editor.

What do I do now? I am legally the owner of information on this company, it is also a listed company on the NZ stock exchange and therefore having incorrect content is a risk to our organisation.

We do not want to use the page for advertising, we just need to update the information to be factually correct.

Can you help me?

To begin with you should read our page about editing in areas where you have a conflict of interest, WP:Conflict of interest. Since you do have a conflict of interest your best course of action is to use the article's talk page, Talk:Pharmacybrands to explain what you believe should be changed. If you are the the copyright owner of the information you are trying to add to the article you should read, Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials and comply with the instructions there. I began a page (here) when I was a new user; the page was rejected originally (with good reason). Now I have experience and am told on my talk page that I can submit articles myself ("Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request"). But when I tried to create the page again "on my own," it was blocked, of course, as the url is reserved. I have since modified the article and submitted it for re-review, but the backlog is very long! Rather than submitting via Articles for creation, you can now create the article directly in mainspace. To do so, follow the redlink in Dismas' comment above, and build the page there. I would lean towards excessive (it makes the page look hilarious, though...). Most if not all of the conglomerates listed have their own articles, so verifiable information about them is only one click away. I submitted an article for creation (Wikipedia:Articles for creation/AVENUE 32) on 20th July and it still hasn't been created. Hi - I tried to login with my old password, and it would not allow me to do it. So, I clicked on forgot password, and an email was sent to me. It had the username and a temporary password in it. I used the correct capitalization for both, but it will not accept that either. Now it will not let me request a new temporary password for 24 hours. I do not know what to do. Have you tried Wikipedia's Reference Desk? They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer just about any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what this Help Desk is for). So you can use the screenshot, so long as you caption it with a link back to the article itself. And people will be allowed to copy the screenshot that you publish. As I understand the rules anyone who has a paid job with the WMF is not allowed to edit any of the WMF projects' content. You can see edits made by logged out users from your current IP address by logging out and clicking Special:MyContributions. It doesn't show edits to pages which were later deleted. Administrators like me can see those. Only CheckUsers can see which edits by logged in users were made from a given IP address. I think you'll have to explain your question a bit more. If you're talking about editing Wikipedia, then "under a HTML context" doesn't make much sense: Wikipedia pages use Help:Wiki markup, not HTML. To Whom it May Concern ~ I recently signed up with Wikipedia using the name Garance Arletty. However, as the name is rather obscure and hard for me to remember I requested a name change to Blythe Spirit. I followed the instructions and was informed, via the 'user rename log' that the name change was successful. Unfortunately, both the original and new user names appear in -red- and the message each displays, when clicked onto, is that currently NEITHER of them is, in essence, active or valid. I can only log in using the original user name, Garance Arletty, which defeats the whole purpose of changing the name to Blythe Spirit and to confuse matters more, my initial -photo- uploaded for the page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%A9_Bazinet, with my original user name, Garance Arletty, is showing up under the new user name, Blythe Spirit, in the 'commons' section. These discrepancies are most apparent on the page containing the user information in relation to the said -photo- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bowler_%26_Tux.jpg. Can someone help me switch the 'Log In' name to Blythe Spirit and help me establish it as valid, so that its link appears in blue? As shown here, your new name Blythe Spirit does indeed exist. However, you have not created a user page to tell us about you. You don't have to if you don't want to, but if you enter "User:Blythe Spirit" in the search box you will be given an opportunity to create the page. To clarify further, a red link like User:Blythe Spirit simply means no page by that name has been created. It doesn't say anything about whether the username has been registered, which it has. Compare the content of User:Blythe Spirit to User:Made up non-existing name to see the difference. commons:File:Bowler & Tux.jpg was uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Our software merely has a feature which also shows it at the url http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bowler_%26_Tux.jpg. The username change at the English Wikipedia does not affect Commons. You can make a request there at commons:Commons:Changing username. It can take some time before a username change is registered in all affected places. [1] says the change was 26 August, 8 days ago. Hi I recently attempted to make some changes to my fathers wiki profile (Raymond Charles Hanson - Composer ) after reading it and being quite annoyed at the fact that his tenure as a teacher at the Con was cut short by 14 years!!! Firstly it was changed back. Secondly I receive a message from ??? someone there telling me its not OK for me to make changes and how do they know I am his daughter anyway?

I have a birth certificate and am happy to PROVE who I am as I am actually the manager of his musical estate and have been for nearly 20 years!! What I would like to know is who the heck writes this stuff in the first place and what was the source material as it is WRONG in stating his work at the Con finished in 1962, he worked right up until he died in 1976 and nearly every reference I find is referring to this incorrect information, which is why I need to locate it and have it changed.

I have been in touch with the Con, the AMC, the NLA and yourselves as I am trying to locate the source of this misinformation and for all your talk about verifying facts, there is no notation regarding the source of this one. There is a recent PHD thesis that used Ray as a case study which has researched his life quite thoroughly and perhaps this should be the new Source of information as it is the most difinitive research ever conducted into his life, both musical and personal. I can give you the details of this work if you are interested in accuracy in your bios.

Meantime if someone could get back to me with some answers to my very real concerns, or how and who to address them if not here, I would be very grateful.

User:Gatoclass correctly reverted your additions, because they were unsourced. Information added to Wikipedia must be verifiable, and in order to be so, it must be referenced to independent reliable sources. If you have published sources for the information you want to add, then the information may possibly be added; but because of your conflict of interest, you are likely to find it hard to satisfy Wikipedia's criteria about neutrality, which is why you are best advised to discuss the matter on the article's talk page rather than editing the article directly.

If the article contains false information, as you say it does, the case is a little different. As long as the information you object to is not referenced to a reliable source, then you may remove it: but you should still be cautious about replacing it with other information, as I suggested in the previous paragraph.

It is true that much of the article is unreferenced, and many of the references which are given are inadequately precise: therefore much of the article should either be better referenced or be removed, but should not be changed unless references can be found.

But one sentence that you have repeatedly removed is "The marriage proved difficult". It is understandable that you should want these words removed, but the fact is that the Australian Dictionary of Biography uses these very words. (I am not saying that those words are true - I obviously don't know - but I am saying that a presumably reliable source states them). In fact that whole paragraph seems to be slightly reworded from the ADB

Gatoclass's comments on your talk page are pointing out that in general, nobody knows who you are on the internet. Your providing evidence of who you are can be relevant for certain purposes, but in this case is not relevant, because there is no way that anybody who might read the article to determine who you are: that is why we require verifiability from published sources.
