review of "Coffee in Seattle" starting with lots of coffee at Allegro
Probably attending
I am in Seattle Sunday 13 November and leaving very early Friday 18 November. It would be nice to meet with others some evening this week. Blue Rasberry (talk) 18:42, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
The Great American Wiknic is an annual wiki-picnic held in cities across the United States on or around a common day every summer. The 2016 Seattle Wiknic will be on Saturday, July 16, 2016, 12pm to 3pm, at the Washington Park Arboretum.
Wikipedia data visualization - 10:00 am Friday, July 22nd 2016
What: Join us as we host a one-day informal hackathon in Seattle, Washington. The focus will be around using the Graph extension to create interactive graphs, charts, and maps for Wikipedia. Demonstrations of how this extension allows editors to create static and interactive visualizations can be found on MediaWiki.org. We will meet with the Vega team from the UW Interactive Data Lab to discuss how Vega should evolve.
There will be a Wikimedians hike at Evans Creek Preserve (see www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/evans-creek-preserve. We meet at the *old* trailhead at 12 PM. Please bring cameras and/or tools suitable for taking notes (smartphone, tablet, or pencil and paper notepad). The reports are that there is plenty of wildlife. (You might want to bring bear spray just in case we encounter a bear.) The current weather forecast is for partial sun in the afternoon
There will likely be a break between the hike and the evening meeting.
At 6 PM, we will have our monthly meetup. We'll meet this time at the Redmond Town Center Starbucks. We can choose a place to eat after we all find each other. Agenda items include documenting the hike, upcoming GLAM and diversity conferences, WikiConference USA in San Diego, Wiknic planning, and a brief update about our 501(c)(3) and plans for the rest of 2016. There *may* be an announcement with news from WMF (I'm waiting to hear back follow up from an initial email.) There will likely be time for additional agenda items and open discussion.
Monthly meeting May 2, 2016, 6pm to 8pm
At Café Allegro (see Directions above); should be upstairs this time, ask at counter if you don't know how to get there.
I am glad Lane mentioned Boot Camp. I was going to mention this here or via email, too. I was able to attend this weekend activity back in 2013 and 1) found it to be very informational 2) met some fantastic, like-minded, enthusiastic Wikimedians, new and experienced, and 3) had a really great time. It would be great if someone else from Cascadia who is interested in collaborating with cultural institutions to attend this event. ---Another Believer(Talk) 22:39, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
