User:MisterWiki/WikiProject Modern Talking
Incorrectly made WikiProject (1 member (creator)) about a subject that quite frankly doesn't need a wikiproject (1 stub article?). Nevermind, just poorly thought out. Categories are up for deletion at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2010_January_18#Category:WikiProject_Modern_Talking Project created to have authority over other user. (User on block (probably 3 month 10 years)) Deletion discussion per consensus at WP:AN/I NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 22:06, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
I am also nominating the following related pages:
- User:MisterWiki/WikiProject Modern Talking/Userbox (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- User:MisterWiki/Template:WikiProject Modern Talking (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- The subject is not limited to one article - see Category:Modern Talking. –Black Falcon (talk) 22:49, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Looks better suited for a task force to me - if indeed there is interest beyond one editor who is blocked for an extended period of time. As such Weak keep as harmless userspace relic - someone may want to take it and convert it to task force. –xenotalk 22:53, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Note appended information (links) ( [1] and [2] )My issue with this is that User:MisterWiki has been given an extraordinary amount of leeway and in all cases abused it. Quoting WP:AN/I:
I'm not sure entirely what needs to be done with this, but I'll listen to any valid arguments.

- Delete, userspace project with only one active member who now has a lengthy block. All three users who have indicated interest at the project proposal so far appear to approach a project as another club to join, with a social networking bent. This was already placing project banners on articles prior while it was still in userspace causing some categorization issues. I'm fine with the material being restored if interest in creating a related project picks back up, but right now this is needed as a housekeeping issue due to the confusion if this is a userspace project or a wikipediaspace one. Users are free to create wikiprojects without going through a proposal, but it is advisable before going through the effort of creating one. I'll archive the proposal at the end of this month along with all other proposals from December. Anyone is free to propose again or create the project if they wish, but I would advise deleting at this time. I would also recommend having File:ModernTalkingBanner.gif deleted at commons if the other material related to this project is deleted, as it was using {{Wikipedia ads}} to link to the proposal, which causes additional confusion. -Optigan13 (talk) 02:15, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

- Keep. Seems benign and harmless and an OK use of userspace. I'd tend to agree that the subject doesn't merit a project, but then a number of subjects that I'd say don't merit projects get them. (Not wanting to hurt people's feelings, I'll refrain from listing these.) Meanwhile, if it's relevant, a number of subjects that do merit projects don't have them, or have projects that are moribund or dead. I once started a project in a similar way, and see nothing fundamentally wrong in what MisterWiki has done here. If the existence of his draft is tied to other misfeatures of WP that might confuse people, then untie it: this is after all what the "What links here" link is for. -- Hoary (talk) 02:52, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Delete No foreseeable use. This WikiProject was proposed and then launched by the proposer without approval. It was moved back into his userspace, consequently, and now the creator is subject to a ten-year block for disruption. No one other than the creator has expressed real interest in working on such a WikiProject. Without anyone to work on it, there's no project – and since it was never really launched, it should be deleted. A Stop at Willoughby (talk) 04:21, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Delete wikiproject created by disruptive editor, no hope of it ever taking off. - Tbsdy (formerly Ta bu shi da yu) talk 12:07, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Delete The article history shows that the page was created by Pooompoom9 then adopted by MisterWiki. I think there have been no other edits apart from removing inappropriate shortcuts and categories, and userfying the page. The page shows no potential for development given its history, and it can only serve as a badge of honor for its contributor, and that is not helpful to Wikipedia. - Delete, ridiculously over-specific; if it ever did take off the chances of it delivering WP:NPOV rather than Fanboy-POV is close to zero, which is a good deal higher than the chances of it taking off in the first place. Guy (Help!) 19:32, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
