Wikipedia:Don't Write Your Own Article
Recently created essay that unnecessarily duplicates/mirrors the more substantial Wikipedia:Autobiography, without adding anything new or informative not found at the original. MikeWazowski (talk) 18:04, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
This page has been praised my multiple users. I am going to request administrative action against you if you continue to be hostile towards me and my pages. --Bowser the Storm Tracker Keeping the skies bright Chat Me Up 18:06, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Would you mind providing diffs showing that users have praised it? ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 18:32, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- There's no policy saying that we can be blocked for having your pages deleted. Also, the pages are not yours, they're the community's.Jasper Deng (talk) 19:01, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Delete - The page is redundant. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 18:32, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Userfy - Redundant, pretty bare-bone. This might just as well belong in the userspace of Bowser423.Jasper Deng (talk) 18:40, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Keep - since when are advice pages deleted for being "unnecessary". Joke pages about this subject exist and aren't deleted!. --Bowser the Storm Tracker Keeping the skies bright Chat Me Up 18:47, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- How about moving this to your userspace? Essays are only moved into the project namespace if they really turn out to be useful.Jasper Deng (talk) 18:50, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- proof of praise and more proof of praise. The 3 of them and me alone are enough users to out !vote you three. --Bowser the Storm Tracker Keeping the skies bright Chat Me Up
- Wikipedia uses consensus, not voting. Unfortunately, as good as your pages might be, they're redundant.Jasper Deng (talk) 18:58, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- I did say out !vote. --Bowser the Storm Tracker Keeping the skies bright Chat Me Up 19:00, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Still, those users would not bring consensus to keep it. Just because there are more users does not mean that you will get to keep your pages.Jasper Deng (talk) 19:02, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- But, they do represent a population which supports the page. That is included in consensus. --Bowser the Storm Tracker Keeping the skies bright Chat Me Up 19:20, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- I know, but it isn't enough. Besides, they haven't commented here.Jasper Deng (talk) 19:21, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

- Userfy - Bare-bones essay, but the creator should still be allowed to keep it. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:36, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Delete - per nom. Wikipedia:Autobiography already covers all this in a much clearer way. Inks.LWC (talk) 21:42, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Delete per nom, redundant to WP:Autobiography, poorly written. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 23:57, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Delete as redundant since the material is better covered in other established essays. Johnuniq (talk) 00:23, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Delete for reasons given above. Drmies (talk) 00:57, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Delete, clear competence issues here and nothing of use in this page. Strange Passerby (talk • cont) 02:08, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Userfy as a challenged single authored essay. There are good reasons for it not be be in project space, but it is OK as a user's userspace essay. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 04:41, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Userfy Doesn't belong in project space, but I see no harm in allowing it in user space )as long as it remains noindexed).--SPhilbrickT 22:07, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Userfy - A reasoned personal introspective essay regarding COI issues when editing Wikipedia - I see no reason not to userfy this. Users having such essays about editing on Wikipedia are not uncommon in userspace, and in many ways is a productive mechanism to help them come to terms with Wikipedia policies and guidelines. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 22:37, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
