The result of the discussion was: Demote . This was one !vote shy of unanimous consensus for demotion, so I would say it is safe for me to close. In conjunction with that result, I moved the page to Wikipedia:WikiProject Portals/Quantum portals and left a redirect. It's now listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Portals#Project Subpages as well. Cheers! (non-admin closure) –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 06:11, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
New Wikiproject that aims to autogenerate portals without any human curation at all (if I'm reading this right) This is the opposite of how Wikipedia has been successful. Such a project should be taken off site and done where volunteers don't need to manage the fallout of the mass generation of blank pages or whatever this is. Anyway we already have Wikiproject Portal so this is a fork. Legacypac (talk) 04:50, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Support. Given the current insanity surrounding portals, the last thing we need right now is a proposal to make even more portals. At the very least, this should wait until after the current discussion about automated portal generation is finished. --Rlin8 (☎·✎·📧) 05:45, 4 March 2019 (UTC)- Demote – Less messy than the current portal situation, but doesn't deserve its own WikiProject. Should be made a subpage of WikiProject Portals. Rlin8 (☎·✎·📧) 02:02, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
- Delete - Like a lot of stuff with quantum in its name, it may be mythology or nonsense, but it needs deleting anyway. This isn't a portal, but it is a portal project, and appears to run the risk of turning more portals loose like brain-eating zombies. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:54, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Demote - This is an interesting idea but should probably be part of WikiProject Portals rather than its own project. It wouldn't create any Wikipedia pages but would run as a script in the user's browser (or possibly a MediaWiki extension, which seems unlikely to happen). Also, deleting it would rob zombie of his food. Certes (talk) 10:52, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Demote to subpage of Wikiproject Portals – the people interested in this idea are going to be a subset of that project's participants. And like Certes says, the idea is to specifically not be creating any pages, but to instead use some sort of tool or script so that the "portals" only exist on the user's computer, and only while using the script or tool. No chance of
turning more portals loose
. - Evad37 [talk] 12:28, 4 March 2019 (UTC) - Demote – falls within the scope of WikiProject Portals. Note that the initial threads on the talk page predated the creation of the page, and were copy/pasted from WikiProject Portals' talk pages. — The Transhumanist 18:36, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Demote - I agree with the sentiment of the demote !voters above, and enjoy the opportunity to use a !vote I've never used before, to the best of my knowledge — Rhododendrites talk \\ 22:48, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Demote - its a good idea in theory, but should be part of the portals wikiproject --DannyS712 (talk) 22:53, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Demote – could be a good idea, but should be part of the existing project. Leviv ich 22:54, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Demote - I like the idea but it'll get more traction as a subset of WikiProject Portals than on its own. ♦AcoriSage 03:40, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
