Canadian federal election, 2009 → Canadian federal election, 2008

The result of the debate was Keep. (non-admin closure) Mastrchf (t/c) 14:10, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't imagine a valid reason why a future hypothetical Canadian election in 2009 should be redirected to one in 2008. Best deleted until it's clear when the next election after the current one will be. Nfitz (talk) 22:27, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as being unrelated and failing WP:CRYSTAL
  • Keep: the election was scheduled to occur in 2009, but then on September 7th, Parliament was dissolved and it was rescheduled for this year. IT was recently in the news. This redirect should be kept for those who haven't heard that it's been rescheduled for this year. Deamon138 (talk) 04:22, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Yeah, I agree, even though I doubt that they wouldn't know its this year. Pie is good (Apple is the best) 01:39, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the background section expaling the fixed eletion law clearly explains that the election was originally set for 2009 and expalins the reason the redirect was first created. --76.66.188.34 (talk) 02:27, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - article clearly states that had there been no dissolution of Parliament, there would have been an election scheduled for October 19, 2009 (as required by law); thus this is a foreseeable search term. If there is another dissolution after the 2008 election, the redirect can be overwritten very easily. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 20:57, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The designations L Velorum, l Velorum and Lambda Velorum refer to 3 completely different objects. L Velorum is HD 83058 [1], l Velorum is HD 79917 [2] and Lambda Velorum is HD 78647 [3] (note SIMBAD displays these designations as "* L Vel", "* l Vel" and "* lam Vel" respectively). Redirecting L Velorum to Lambda Velorum is thus incorrect. Icalanise (talk) 19:10, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Auto Channel → Gordon

The result of the debate was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 13:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page matter seems to have no relevance to "Gordon" to which there is no obvious disambiguation, and there are no pages linked to this page. Seems to be a candidate for deletion. billinghurst (talk) 07:06, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as a redirect since no apparent relevance to Gordon. Comment A review of User talk:Mac shows many different discussions about redirects since February 2008. They may be the result of moves or just errors resulting from significant effort in creating redirects. Suntag (talk) 21:19, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Auto Channel (which appears to be worthy of its own standalone article) is owned by Gordon Communications. I've added a redlink/line to the Gordon dab page to encourage an article on the latter, but in the meantime, the redirect is a confusing one. If a standalone article cannot be written before close, delete the redirect. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 20:09, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gordon Communictions → Gordon

The result of the debate was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 14:00, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like created in error, and as a typing mistake. Nothing on disambig page relates to topic matter. billinghurst (talk) 07:03, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - It doesn't seem likely that many people will mistype "Gordon Communications" as Gordon Communictions (with the "a" missing from Communictions). Also, there doesn't seem to be any reason why a reader looking for Gordon Communictions in Wikipedia would want to be directed to the disambiguous page Gordon. Suntag (talk) 21:24, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually, missing a letter is a common (and foreseeable) error. If there were indeed an article on Gordon Communications (and not simply a line on a dab page), I'd recommend keeping it, but since there is none, it would be better to delete and wait until someone actually writes the article. In the meantime, I've boldly added a link for the Gordon Communications redlink in the dab page. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 20:03, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Afro-Native Americans → Black Indians

The result of the debate was Deleted. Google shows very few uses & most of those are Wikipedia mirrors. NN neologism. -- JLaTondre (talk) 14:03, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neologism, not mentioned in any of the target pages sources or links. Unlikely to be searched by any user. Jimmi Hugh (talk) 01:48, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
