I see that there is a similar conversation ongoing for 7 October 2023. Based on seeming consensus there, should this page be retargeted to Portal:Current events/2022 February 24? TNstingray (talk) 14:49, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

I think that this would generally be in line with that. TartarTorte 15:51, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

- Retarget to the portal per nom and the consensus of the 7 October 2023 discussion. I don't agree with mass-creating these redirects but if they are created then we should target them to the most appropriate place, which in almost all cases will be the portal or the article about the month. Thryduulf (talk) 01:01, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget to portal per nom. Also all dates redirects such as December 7, 1941, September 11, 2001, January 6, 2021, etc. I don't think a date should redirect to an article. These redirects also creating unnecessary hatnote. Hddty (talk) 16:02, 28 October 2023 (UTC)

Romanian surname, originally the disambiguation page was created without its respective diacritic and accidentally an user moved it to an A-caron (ǎ, Slavic languages) instead of an A-breve (ă, Romanian diacritic). - Wikipedia:VPN → Wikipedia:Village pump (news) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Propose retarget to WP:No open proxies. This shortcut is eons old and the only use today would be for "Virtual Private Networks", which a lot of these are open proxies. Listing at RfD though because of the potential to break some incoming links. Awesome Aasim 02:40, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget per nomination. It'd just be confusing to keep as is. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 04:51, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget to Wikipedia:Open proxies: Per nom. We can potentially add a hat note at the new target, but given that there are not that many internal links to WP:VPN, and that the current target has been marked as {{historical}} since 2007 I don't think this would be too disruptive. TartarTorte 12:54, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

- Retarget to Wikipedia:Open proxies per nominator; the term VPN is almost always used an abbreviation of virtual private network in modern parlance. For what it's worth, oppose addition of a hatnote — I think it's unlikely to be too helpful. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 20:00, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

- Retarget with hatnote to help readers going through the incoming archived pages. I don't know if old timers refer to the Village Pump notices in general as VPN. - Demographics of federal electoral districts of Canada → List of Canadian electoral districts (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
The page doesn't discuss demographics. It simply lists the electoral districts, and doesn't add the information that the redirect's title promises. Its only link is in the See Also section of the page it redirects to.
This was a full article that was draftified back in July, before being blanked and moved into mainspace in September as a redirect, so there's a good amount of history, nearly 170k bytes worth at its peak. However, it was completely unreferenced in mainspace and draftspace, and Wikipedia is WP:NOT an indiscriminate database. This information in the history is probably not mergeable or useable anywhere in its current (past) state, and as a redirect it leaves much to be desired if the main article doesn't refer to any demographics, especially when the link in the See Also section just loops back to the same article. - Delete. Prior to the list becoming a redirect, it was an exercise in futility. Demographic percentages ebb and flow over time, and the list was destined to become outdated and difficult to maintain. And it was unreferenced. PKT(alk) 17:56, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Delete. This building was previously mentioned in the article, albeit unsourced, until it was removed last August by Alpha3031 who made some notable improvements to the target in question. Another option would be to retarget to Dubai Creek Tower, a building that was initially known as "The Tower". CycloneYoris talk! 01:53, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

- Bundling the lowercase version. Mdewman6 (talk) 16:28, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
Retarget, people who search for "Dora the Explora" are more likely to be looking for the Pink Guy song. Also, having a hatnote that leads to an album where many of the songs are about sex on an article that is probably frequently viewed by children may be contentious. 108.21.221.8 (talk) 11:53, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- Comment The proper hatnote at Dora the Explorer is to Dora the Explorer (disambiguation), where the song is listed, so the hatnote isn't an issue. Mdewman6 (talk) 16:28, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
Keep per Mdweman6. Hatnote isn't an issue, and it points to the DAB page where the song is listed.Retarget to Dora the Explorer (disambiguation). There's actually an episode titled "Dora the Explora!" listed at Backpackers (TV series)#Episode list, and is also mentioned at the DAB. Therefore, the Pink Guy song isn't the only title that features this spelling variant. CycloneYoris talk! 00:25, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

- @CycloneYoris: since consensus may depend on your revised opinion, what is your take on the SMALLDETAILS, and what is the rationale behind your Keep, since Mdewman6's comment was about the second part of the nomination statement, the hatnote at the target, and not necessarily a Keep vote? Jay 💬 08:44, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Jay: I've updated my vote above and proposed a different target. SMALLDETAILS doesn't seem to apply since there's another title with exactly the same spelling. CycloneYoris talk! 10:25, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
