- Country metal → Category:Country metal albums (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
This was at RfD before. The closer decided to retarget to a Category because "a mention has not been added". Well, over a year later, a mention still hasn't been added. This should now be deleted, pending some mainspace content which is what a searcher will be looking for, and not be a cross-namespace redirect that inhibits Search. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:49, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Retarget to Country rock#Country metal, which I've BOLDly restored to the article. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 22:35, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Only one of the two sources mention the term "country metal", and the one that does does so only in the WP:HEADLINE and in quotation marks. This genre doesnt exist --FMSky (talk) 05:40, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- There was consensus at the prior RfD to add a mention. A mention was added, which you then removed. In the absence of a new consensus to not have a mention, I added it back. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 14:55, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

- Retarget doesn't need to be a XNR. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:55, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- Retarget to Country rock#Country metal as long as that section exists, but I share FMSky's concerns that that section is poorly sourced. Still, even if the section is rewritten without the exact phrase "country metal", the redirect will still make sense as long as there is some discussion of the concept of country/metal fusion. —Mx. These recent creations are cross-namespace redirects that I don't believe are appropriate. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:27, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

It is a cross-namespace redirect out of article space ...
—Bagumba (talk) 08:34, 24 December 2024 (UTC)- @Bagumba: I do a lot of patrolling of redirects (#2 all time now in redirect patrols), and I'd love to hear more about what you think are appropriate redirects to category space (if any). I typically end up leaving them as unpatrolled because I just feel weird about them typically. Whether here or on my talk page, either is fine :) Hey man im josh (talk) 18:43, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: I've always interpretted the guideline to be that crosspace redirs are generally discouraged. but I see that category redirects are exempt from WP:CSD R2. I would recommend creating the list (with sourcing), if notable, instead of a redirect. Otherwise, I've never thought much about appropriate exceptions. —Bagumba (talk) 05:16, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- AFAICT there are mixed opinions on XNRs to categories, but they lean anti-. I tend to view categories as reader-facing so I think this type of redirect can be the best option at times. J947 ‡ edits 06:07, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

- Regardless of its XNR status, this redirect isn't great at the minute because as far as I can tell the category does not include ABA-winning players. So I'm thus not sure why these redirects were created. List of ABA champions lists the teams, not the players. Delete. J947 ‡ edits 04:56, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, even if one was not opposed in principle to x-namespace, a reader landing here cannot readily tell an NBA player from an ABA one, rendering the redirect unhelpful. —Bagumba (talk) 12:39, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

possible confusion with victini, which was #0 in the gen 5 games? consarn (formerly cogsan) 19:12, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Weak keep I know nowhere near enough about Pokémon to make a justified statement, but according to Bulbapedia, Victini is #0494 so this seems like a pretty cut and dry redirect. User:Someone-123-321 (I contribute, Talk page so SineBot will shut up) 00:47, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- that's in the national pokédex. the unova pokédex had a whole plot point about victini specifically being #0 and how that was symbolic of... something. unown syndrome strikes again, as we still have no idea what it is consarn (formerly cogsan) 11:01, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- The best hypothesis I know about this is that Victini is first so that it would reduce how many blank Pokedex entries you would get upon receiving it. --Super Goku V (talk) 11:21, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- Normally we wouldn't use Bulbapedia, but see the Unova Pokédex where it is listed as #000 in the 2010 games, Black and White. For an attempt at a reliable source, see GamesRadar+. --Super Goku V (talk) 11:13, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

The only mention on the web I could find is in the Wikipedia article List of Cyrillic letters, but the mentioned language is Bashkir, not Selkup. Janhrach (talk) 17:32, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete Not clear why this should redirect to a language especially if the language is not the only one that uses it. I'm not sure Selkup uses it except for possibly (?) demarcating stress in dictionary forms (à la Russian), but even then it certainly shouldn't redirect to this particular language's page. - Retarget to List of Cyrillic letters. Fieari (talk) 07:37, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think this is not a real letter. Its listing in List of Cyrillic letters may well be errorneous, and may be removed as unverifiable.
- This letter has an unsourced article on frwiki. It mentions that the acute is sometimes used to mark accent. Still, no sources have been provided for this claim. Janhrach (talk) 17:50, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Pinging Moyogo, the creator of the frwiki article. Janhrach (talk) 17:52, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- I don’t know if it’s used in any of the Selkup dialect. Some do use the Cyrillic ө but, at a quick glance I couldn’t find the acute being used with any letter. The Cyrillic ө́ is used in Bashkir, for example in ba:Көнигсберг in the introduction where the acute is used to help with intonations in the first occurence of an article main word like is often done in Russian. I think it can either be deleted or redirected to List of Cyrillic letters. --Moyogo/ (talk) 11:04, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm, looking at Bashkir references, the use of acute on the Bashkir Wikipedia seems odd. Dictionaries don’t seem to use the acute this way. --Moyogo/ (talk) 11:09, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

Zero relevant hits on Google. Hoax? Janhrach (talk) 17:21, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment According to the page creator, it was used in the "old Bashkir language". However, no source was provided for that claim. Not a Unicode character, but may be constructed using U+04BA Һ CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER SHHA and U+0308 ̈ COMBINING DIAERESIS. 1857a (talk) 06:55, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Redirect to a redirect, hence, the section for qualification doesn't exist there. There's also not relevant qualification info at the target if the redirect is bypassed (Cricket World Cup), making this a misleading redirect. Delete as WP:TOOSOON. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:37, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

- Pregnant men → Transgender pregnancy (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Which is right? LIrala (talk) 17:31, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'd say that both should link to the same place and that should be Transgender pregnancy. The section in Male pregnancy deals with two largely theoretical matters before very briefly getting on to things that actually exist in the real world. It doesn't even link to Transgender pregnancy, which is the most likely topic that the reader is actually looking for. Transgender pregnancy is much more likely to give the reader what they want and expect. I guess the other target might be acceptable if that section was substantially improved and included a link to Transgender pregnancy but, as it stands, the first redirect sends readers off to a poorly written section that doesn't give them what they are most likely looking for. This is likely to confuse and frustrate them. --DanielRigal (talk) 20:10, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

- Disambiguate. I searched Google Books for "pregnant man" and "pregnant men" in quotation marks to see how sources use the phrase. I found roughly equal numbers of sources using the phrase for a man whose partner is pregnant (including discussions of Couvade syndrome)[1][2][3][4], for male pregnancy[5][6][7][8][9], and for transgender pregnancy[10][11][12][13]. (I also found a few hits that I couldn't make sense of or that had the words "pregnant" and "men" next to each other by coincidence.) Based on these results, it seems to me that there is no primary topic, so a disambiguation page is appropriate, between Couvade syndrome, Male pregnancy, Transgender pregnancy, and possibly some other related topics such as couvade and fatherhood. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 18:15, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Disambiguate (drafted). @Mx. Granger: I've mostly followed your suggestions, and added Thomas Beatie and an SA to The Pregnant Man and Other Cases from a Hypnotherapist's Couch. Wording the two main entires was tough though, so improvements welcome. Also, when this is closed, could the closer please ping me? I'd like to RfD The Pregnant Man to decide between targeting Beatie, and Other Cases, and whatever this RfD's outcome is. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 05:14, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
