• For the latter, if you are speaking of detecting that some script stopped working and some cleanup is necessary, see [1] (but make sure to not only read the accepted answer); if you are speaking of executing a cleanup the moment a script failed, just put a Bash_(Unix_shell)#Conditional_execution inside your cron job.
