Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

2 Week Semi Protection Reason: High level of addition of unsourced speculations and possible WP:OR since this is a new NRL team, it is probably going to have persistent addition of unsourced speculations. Servite et contribuere (talk) 21:11, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The article has a long history of being persistently vandalized by Pham Van Rang's sockpuppets. Currently, this article is temporarily protected, but I propose to increase the protection level to permanent. 2401:D800:29E:CFF:40BC:A357:2506:BF44 (talk) 16:27, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement - wp:AIPIA - Calmira90 (talk) 16:33, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – I strongly recommend ECP under the ARBIPA CT regime for this page: it isn't clear to me why it was spun off of the related article, but the article has ECP already, and the infobox is now seeing the sort of edit-warring ECP is meant to prevent. Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:50, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. I admit this is sort of a strange choice to spin off, but there haven't been a lot of edits yet and I really don't see the sort of edit warring yet that would justify it. Daniel Case (talk) 18:15, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Daniel Case: There haven't been too many disruptive edits yet because the page is four hours old. Per WP:GS/IPAK and WP:CTOP, administrators are allowed wider latitude here, and a page that exists solely to be transcluded onto a XC-protected page is surely grounds for using such latitude. Vanamonde93 (talk) 20:25, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps WP:NOPREEMPT (which I would consider this request to come under) should be widened to include more CTOPS situations than the only existing de facto exemption, for ARBPIA. As far now, GS/IPAK has, as the page makes very clear, been superseded, and CTOP does not mention pre-emptive protection as a remedy. Daniel Case (talk) 22:35, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Aintabli (talk) 18:17, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Temporary semi-protection High level of IP vandalism. Unsourced information which includes program guide listings. Msw1002 (talk) 19:06, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Changed link from Baby First, since presumably protection is being requested for the article instead of the redirect. Revert if that was incorrect. Sdrqaz (talk) 20:42, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite pending changes: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – This page got many consecutive edits from a single user, and it was hard to distinguish the final version from vandalism. Faster than Thunder (talk | contributions) 19:37, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Kajmer05 (talk) 21:02, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:21, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of vandalism since the new Pope Leo XIV is a dual citizen Plumber (talk) 22:36, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism and persistent disruptive editing. Hamasien (talk) 22:56, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:CT/IRP + persistent disruptive editing. Skitash (talk) 00:44, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Beshogur (talk) 00:44, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: It's clear from the persistence and severity of recent vandalism that a bump up to EC protection is warranted here, at least for a while. Sockmaster is repeatedly gaming the system to achieve autoconfirmed status and then spam an enormous quantity of grossly insulting racial abuse. Generalrelative (talk) 00:48, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
