Toby Fox (born October 11, 1991) is an American indie video game developer and composer who created the role-playing video games (RPGs) Undertale and Deltarune. Influenced by the RPG EarthBound as a child, he became part of the game's fandom, and released the EarthBound Halloween Hack in 2008. Fox is a self-taught musician and joined the music team for Homestuck in 2010, which helped launch his career. He conceived Undertale and Deltarune while attending Northeastern University, and raised funds for Undertale's development through Kickstarter in 2013. Undertale was developed almost entirely by Fox until its 2015 release and has been ranked among the greatest video games of all time. He has contributed music to video games, including indie titles and the Pokémon franchise, and has collaborated with Japanese musicians and become involved with the Japanese game industry.
