This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Disambiguations. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Disambiguations|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Disambiguations. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

I think this should be redirected to Leo XIV as the primary topic. The current pope is regularly referred to as "Pope Bob" by media outlets, and thus readers searching that name are most likely to be looking for Leo XIV at present. voorts (talk/contributions) 00:06, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  No, thank you for adding it! And with that, I'm going to !vote Move, then re-create as redirect and link to the dab in a hatnote. Yes, the fact that there's an actual Pope called Pope Bob is a recent affair. However, for the foreseeable future, it's still much more likely that readers will be looking for the actual pope than Ingersoll and Wilson. As demonstrated in the articles, Wilson is only called Pope Bob by a relatively small group of people. Ingersoll was called Pope Bob in the 1800s; while some people might see a reference to the old nickname and search it here, we can hardly say he's the primary topic. Conversely, even my mother (not up on memes, like, in the slightest - she didn't learn who Lady Gaga was until a few years ago) has been calling the pope 'Pope Bob'. • Keep disamb., "Pope Bob" has redirected to Robert Anton Wilson since November 2019. Not many views, but a long-time nickname for Wilson both among the subgenius and, mainly, the Discordians. • Keep: as disambiguation. This is just WP:RECENTISM; there are reliably attested sources indicating this nickname applies to other individuals. • Comment: Long-term significance is just one consideration when determining the primary topic:
  The last sentence makes clear that "but RECENTISM" is not a valid argument. Editors need to give a good reason that PT2 outweighs PT1. In this case, I don't think there's a good argument that either of the other two Pope Bobs are primary "with respect to long-term significance" or that they have "substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term." Whilst not quite eligible for G14, I do not believe this disambiguation page is necessary. Out of the 4 items it disambiguates to, the first is to the wrong page (lambana redirects to Anito and Diwata, not to fairy as this article links). The second article is fine, but the third and fourth are both merely similar words where the term "lambana" does not appear in the article at all. CoconutOctopus talk 23:33, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

• Weak keep as a given name page. One of the references on Hwanhee does use "Fany" in the headline. (Update: The source is in Korean and I don't know where that translated headline came from). While I see nothing at Tiffany Young at this time, there are a few other pages that could be included: Fany Pfumo, Fany Pérez Gutiérrez, Fany Gauto, Fany Chalas and Fanny Puyesky (which although titled with "Fanny" mixes usage with "Fany"). • Comment. The keep argument here appears to be that the list is "useful enough" or "reasonable", but those reasons don't comply with WP:DP. As explained at WP:DAB, a disambiguation page is used "when a potential article title is ambiguous", and not otherwise. In the same guideline, WP:PTM asserts that "a disambiguation page is not a search index", and links "should not be included... where there is no significant risk of confusion between them".
