This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Portugal. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Portugal|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Portugal. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

According to the sources provided, he played briefly in the 3rd tier of Portugal and the 2nd tier of Serbia, which is far from indicative of a notable career. I have revived the Diario de Noticias source and it's only a very brief article about a hat-trick. My own searches yielded nothing better than RTP Madeira, which is also insignificant. Given the low level that he played at and my own WP:BEFORE, I can't see him passing WP:GNG or WP:SPORTBASIC. Spiderone^{(Talk to Spider)} 18:26, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I believe he clearly fails WP:SPORTCRIT, having only played in the semi-amateur Macedonian league as well as scond and fourth tiers in other countries. But does he meet GNG? I believe that he does not. Ref 1 is paywalled, but I don't think it's enough anyway. Refs 2 and 3 are clearly just a few sentences, and ref 4 is a match report, i.e. not specifically about Gassamá. • Question i have seen in other afds where people argue that playing in a top flight league in any country has the subject pass the nesccary guidelines and it says in the article that the subject played 16 games for a top flight North Macedonian team though I'm not sure if this argument is vaild so I haven't voted yet Scooby453w (talk)

To add to this, the First League of Macedonia was not seen as "granting" notability even before 2022. @Syvä-äksy For the sake of discussion, it would be interesting if you could elaborate on ref #1, are you able to bypass the paywall?
