This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Schools. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Schools|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Schools. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

A merge to Kallumala#Education was contested, but as a new page reviewer I could not find any WP:SIGCOV of this school to warrant a pass WP:GNG, just WP:TRIVIALMENTIONS and unbylined WP:NEWSORGINDIA stories ([1]) that read as promo. The sources in the article are solely the school's own website. Encyclopedic content has already been merged, so I am seeking consensus to restore a redirect to Kallumala#Education. Despite producing three highly notable alumni, this boarding school, which has been closed for 115 years, lacks the significant coverage to satisfy WP:NSCHOOL. The four listed sources are 1) a blog post merely previewing the fourth source, 2) a four-sentence description by the Matawan Historical Society, 3) a book merely establishing John Warne Herbert Jr.'s attendance, and 4) an article from Atlas Obscura, which is rated unreliable as it is user-generated content per WP:AOPLACES. Furthermore, Earwig identifies the article as heavily copied from that Atlas Obscura page. A Google search only returns one additional mention, but that is a minor appearance in the New Jersey state government's 1980 survey of Monmouth County historic sites (link to PDF). - These are trivial mentions that fail WP:SIGCOV. The Matawan Historical Society source is only four sentences long, Ward's Patch article only has six sentences on the school, and Naso's Patch article only has four. The location has undeniable history, but I remain unconvinced that it meets Wikipedia's standard for notability. ViridianPenguin🐧 (💬) 17:24, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Per SIGCOV: Significant coverage addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material. Djflem (talk) 21:31, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

- Comment. Not sure about this one yet. I added a reference to a book published by Helen Henderson, of the local hist socy, which has several pages on the school, but doesn't get us to WP:THREE. I am not sure that Patch is reliable. Its About page talks about contributions from residents, as well as having an editorial team. However, the information looks as if it comes from work by Henderson. I did see that book too, but didn't add it as it's the same author as the one I did add, and doesn't have much additional information except the apparently notable former student, Henry Stafford Little, who doesn't have a Wiki article as far as I can see. The history is quite muddled and the school had several names and variants of those names, which may be why we are not seeing much coverage. Tacyarg (talk) 08:05, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Appreciate the link to Henderson's 1996 book, but same as my above response, this four-sentence mention does not satisfy WP:SIGCOV. Inclusion within Matawan, New Jersey#Education seems warranted, but with nothing except Ward's self-published material devoting significant coverage to the site, deletion seems warranted. ViridianPenguin🐧 (💬) 17:24, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- I added a good amount more citations. It is also in the New Jersey Register of Historic places, inventory No. 1329-I-4, NJ Reg. Historic Places, Monmouth County, page 13. It is within the Matawan Main Street Historic District (ID#3359).
- I also added additional notable alumni and other pertinent information. Dresq23 (talk) 10:23, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

- Very Weak Delete. Not sure here. On one hand the Hartford Courant, the biggest newspaper in a fairly populous state, appears to have a routine "in the schools" section that regularly covered Enrico Fermi. But, almost all of the coverage is routine in nature (e.g., school dances, sports, announcements, etc.), or human interest stories that do not necessarily contribute to notability. nf utvol (talk) 00:29, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- keep or merge into Enfield High School nothing against local newspapers, this article seems well researched with lots of references to offline newspaper archive which I presume is WP:SIGCOV of the local school (I dont have access to these offline sources). The article is well sourced with a lot of informative details that would be hard to research online and offline. I dont see any reason to remove this work, it should be preserved either in this article or in the Enfield High School article. AfD for high schools is designed for poorly researched, WP:ROTM articles that have no encyclopedic quality and cannot be supported by WP:RS, this article is not that at all. This was discussed here with exactly this problem in mind:
- Because extant secondary schools often have reliable sources that are concentrated in print and/or local media, a deeper search than normal is needed to attempt to find these sources. At minimum, this search should include some local print media. If a deep search is conducted, and still comes up empty, then the school article should be deleted for not meeting the GNG - Editors are not expected to prove the negative that sources do not exist, but they should make a good-faith effort to find them. If a normal-depth search fails to find any evidence that the school exists, the article on the school should be deleted without the need for a deeper search.
- However, in this case the article author has done exactly that, a deep search with local media and produced a reasonable quality article based on coverage in WP:RS. --hroest 14:41, 6 May 2025 (UTC)

Subject does not appear to be notable - simply existing or having notable alumni does not mean that a school is notable, unless the school itself has been the subject of reliable, secondary coverage. WormEater13 (talk • contribs) 13:11, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

- Weak keep. Though I've myself triggered more than a few AfD/PROM noms on non-notable schools, I think this one might just about meet WP:NORG/WP:GNG. Barely. While most of the coverage I found in my own WP:BEFORE is from local/regional papers (like that in The Avondhu of school extension project and alumni), there is some coverage in national outlets (like Irish Examiner and Irish Independent - granted largely "match report" style reporting that is not especially WP:INDEPTH on the school itself). If there is consensus that the school doesn't have independent notability, then (per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES and as an WP:ATD) I wonder if the title should be a redirect to Lismore,_County_Waterford#Education. Where much of the cited content could be merged. Outright deletion does not, IMO, seem to be an appropriate outcome... Guliolopez (talk) 15:21, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

- Weak delete. apart from articles about individual athletes from the school, I dont really see in-depth coverage of the school itself. I dont believe that coverage of athletes or participants in science competitions should count towards notability of the school itself since it is about the person that competes and not their school. - Delete - All the sources for this very new school are primary/not independent. We need sources that demonstrate this meets WP:GNG, which is to say, multiple sources with significant coverage in independent reliable secondary sources. COI or UPE editing of institute with not enough in-depth coverage to show that they meet WP:GNG. C4 was declined, but still fails WP:GNG. Onel5969 TT me 01:10, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

- Merge or Redirect to List of colleges in British Columbia#Applied institutes as an ATD. Yes, it is named wrong. It likely should be "List of learning institutions in British Columbia". That is a discussion for that article though. -- Otr500 (talk) 05:45, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Cited references seem to be from institutes that are separate entities and not from the institute itself. It also has some recognition from a government source as well as other separate sources. 2604:3D08:948B:CD00:90C7:DA08:33D9:C950 (talk) 05:19, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

- I think people might take assertions like
COI claim lacks evidence
more seriously if they didn't come from a local IP who had already set off the edit filter trying to remove the AfD notice from the article. Just saying. -- asilvering (talk) 03:40, 5 May 2025 (UTC)- True, but should that make a difference anyways if the COI claim lacks evidence Dwas92 (talk) 17:35, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

- Merge or Redirect to List of colleges in British Columbia#Applied institutes. Nothing found on EBSCO and google. —LastJabberwocky (Rrarr) 13:05, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- This merge suggests that it is a public applied institute, nothings shows that it is. A government website shows the institution being able to grant external credentials, which fall outside of courses developed by the local government. Dwas92 (talk) 17:56, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

- Redirect to List of university and college schools of music#British_Columbia - which, to be clear, is not the target proposed above. I presume the relist was to nail down whether this is a merge or a redirect, as the consensus not to keep is clear (for good reason, per the above, and because this would need to meet WP:NORG as the relevant SNG for a private education institution, and we have no independent sources with WP:ORGDEPTH). The above proposals, however, are to redirect to a list that does not mention this college, and whose inclusion criterion is that it only lists public colleges. We should not redirect there. However there is already an incoming link from the schools of music page, so that is a suitable redirect target. It is not a merge as there is nothing useful to merge, and a merge to a list page would place information that is undue on that page. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 07:40, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Undisclosed conflict of interest...fails WP:NORG primary sourced advertising. Theroadislong (talk) 16:25, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- This is a public university, not a paid promotion. Which parts raised concerns about undisclosed paid editing or conflict of interest? But I can go ahead and blank it out, if it makes you happy. Wieditor25 (talk) 16:51, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

- Week Keep - I'm shocked to see the comments about COI, but there is no proof that the editor works at the university. Then again, most of the sources are from the university's website, so it could fall under a WP:SOAPBOX violation. JTZegers (talk) 17:45, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Delete - Indeed, most of the sources are from the university itself (connexion to subject). The rest are two counts of routine coverage, a dead source, and a PDF labeled as a "self-evaluation". - weak keep public Universities are generally presumed notable, even though here there isnt a ton of secondary coverage we can at least establish that this University exists and trains students. The article is in reasonable shape and has sources, we can improve COI issues but I simply dont see a reason to delete this. --hroest 14:04, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
