Cressona est un genre d'insectes hémiptères du sous-ordre des Hétéroptères (les punaises), au sein de la famille des Pentatomidae et de la sous-famille des Phyllocephalinae. Il compte trois espèces décrites présentes entre l'Inde, la Péninsule malaise et la Chine.

Répartition

Ce genre est présent surtout en Chine, C. divaricata dans le Yunnan (sud de la Chine), C. rufa dans le Jiangxi (centre-est) et le Yunnan, et C. valida en Chine (Yunnan) mais également dans le nord de l'écozone indomalaise.

Biologie

Comme les autres Phyllocephalinae, les Cressona sont phytophages et se nourrissent sur des graminées (Poaceae). Cressona a été trouvée sur du bambou, Bambusa sp.

Systématique

Ce genre a été établi par William Sweetland Dallas en 1851. Il est le genre type de la tribu des Cressonini, établie par Kamaluddin et Ahmad^,, au sein des Phyllocephalinae. Il comprend trois espèces décrites.

Étymologie

Dallas n'a pas expliqué l'étymologie du nom.
