Illaphanus

Illaphanus er en slekt av små løpebiller.

Utseende

Ganske små (1,5-2,5 millimeter), avlange, blanke, blekt brunrøde løpebiller. De mangler fasettøyne og er blinde. Kroppen har tallrike oppstående hår som har en sansefunksjon. Hodet er kort og bredt, rundet, antennene middels lange. Pronotum er avrundet firkantet, dekkvingene jevnbrede uten påfallende punktrader. De mangler flygevinger.

Levevis

Artene lever på bakken mellom løvstrø i skog.

Utbredelse

Slekten er utbredt i det østlige Australia inkludert Tasmania og Norfolkøya.
