Etymologia

  • Grayia: John Edward Gray (1800–1875), brytyjski zoolog.
  • Xenurophis: gr. ξενος xenos „obcy, dziwny”; ουρα oura „ogon”; οφις ophis, οφεως opheōs „wąż”. Gatunek typowy: Xenurophis caesar Günther, 1863.
