Agua Prieta ("dark water") is a town in the Agua Prieta Municipality in the northeastern corner of Sonora, Mexico. It was founded as a settlement in 1899 and registered as town on August 28, 1916. As of the 2020 Mexican census, 91,029 people lived there.
