Death

Das died on 12 April 2017 from a heart attack at a hospital in Lucknow, India, aged 56.

Fraud allegations

Das was accused of fraud and nepotism while serving with the Badminton Association of India. The allegations were related to the selection of players for a goodwill badminton trip to Japan.

An investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said that some officials selected their own children and relatives instead of eligible players. It also stated that no public notice or proper trials were held. The CBI sent its report to the Government of India, but no action was reported at that time.
