Beta Columbae

Beta Columbae (β Col), also named Wazn, is a star in the southern constellation of Columba. The Columba constellation is known as "The Dove". It is the second-brightest star in its constellation and can be seen with the naked eye. The traditional name "Wazn" comes from an Arabic word that translates to "the weight".

It is an orange giant, meaning it has an orange hue because of its cool surface temperature. It is much older and larger than our Sun, with a radius that has expanded to about 11.5 times the solar radius. Beta Columbae is located at 87 light-years away from our Solar System. It is also traveling through space at an unusually large speed of 100 kilometers per second relative to our Sun.
