Bid'at

Bid'at (Arabic: بَدَعَتْ) are new inventions in religious beliefs in Islam. The word's literal meaning in Arabic is "invention" and is seen as a form of heresy by some. The word is used for any new invention against the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah . Many Sunnis believe that anybody who starts a new invention in the religion is cursed by Allah and his angels.
