Big Love

Big Love was an American drama television series which aired on the American HBO cable channel from March 12, 2006 to March 20, 2011.

Big Love is about a fictional fundamentalist Mormon family in modern-day Utah, in which the man follows the now-outdated Mormon practice of having multiple wives.

Big Love stars Bill Paxton as a male patriarch of a fundamentalist old-fashioned Mormon family. Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloƫ Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin portray his three female spouses.

The practice of having more than one spouse is not common among Mormons now, but was once considered less uncommon among certain sects of Latter Day Saints many years ago. The show did not portray this accurately (nor Mormonism), but that is because it was a fictional television show.

The general practice of having more than one spouse at a time, regardless of religion, is called polygamy. It is not legal in the United States to have more than one spouse.

Among the other actresses and actors which appeared on the drama series Big Love were Amanda Seyfried, Daveigh Chase, Bruce Dern, and Harry Dean Stanton.
