Chaturbate

Chaturbate is a website for live webcam shows that are sexual in nature. Webcam models perform on camera, alone or with a partner. Shows can include striptease, erotic talk, and sexual acts such as masturbation.

The site sometimes runs hackathons and once had a program on HackerOne for people to report security problems.

As of April 2025, Chaturbate was the 40th most popular website in the world and the fourth most popular pornographic site.

Concept

The name Chaturbate comes from the words chat and masturbate. Watching is free for most shows, but private shows cost money. Viewers can also send “tips” (tokens) to models to get them to do certain acts.

Some models use sex toys that react to the amount of tips they get.

Not all models are real people. For example, Projekt Melody is an animated cam girl controlled by a person.

Models must be adults. The site earns money by taking 40–50% of what the models make. Tokens are bought by viewers and then given to models. Models must earn at least $50 before they are paid.

Rankings

In November 2019, Chaturbate was ranked 22nd in the world by Alexa and was the biggest adult cam site. The site gets about 117 million visits per month, about 780,000 visits each day.

Sponsorships

Chaturbate sponsored the 33rd AVN Awards in 2016 and took part in the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in 2016 and 2017.

In 2020, the site worked with Canadian filmmakers Ethan Cole and Daniel AM Rosenberg to make a YouTube web series called Cam Girlfriend.

In March 2024, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued Chaturbate for not following a state law about age checks. The site added an age verification system and agreed to pay $675,000 to settle the case in April 2024.

In July 2025, a former content moderator sued the site, saying the job caused him mental harm because of extreme sexual and violent material, and that Chaturbate did not provide proper mental health support.
