An ecclesiastical province is a group of dioceses in some Christian denominations. It has one main diocese, called an archdiocese, led by a metropolitan bishop or archbishop. This bishop has some authority over the other bishops in the province.
The Catholic Church, Orthodox Churches, and Anglican Church all have ecclesiastical provinces. Each is led by a metropolitan archbishop.
