The Force

Luke Skywalker, a very powerful Force user.

The Force is a kind of energy from the Star Wars universe. It is a force that connects all living beings together. The Force is mostly used by the Jedi and the Sith.

Nature

The Force is as natural to the laws of the Star Wars universe as time and space is. It is like an invisible tree that connects all living things together, as well as the universe as a whole. Tiny microscopic beings named Midichlorians are what connect living things to the Force. The number of Midichlorians in any living being is what determines their Force sensitivity.

Users

The Force can only be used by those who are "Force sensitive"; beings who possess a large amount of Midichlorians in their bloodstream, with a higher count allowing easier usage of the Force.

Through extreme discipline, practice, and focus, Force Sensitive beings can use the Force to their advantage or use it to help others.

Sides of the Force

There are two primary "sides" of the Force. They are the Light Side and the Dark Side.

The Light Side

Yoda, a very old and wise Light Side user.

The Light Side of the Force is used by those who wish to use their Force sensitivity for good. The Jedi Order are a gathering of Force sensitive beings who use their connection to the Force for peacekeeping across the galaxy.

The Dark Side

Darth Vader, a very powerful Dark Side user.

The Dark Side of the Force is used by those who wish to use their Force sensitivity for selfish gain. The Sith Order are a group of Force sensitive beings who are in pursuit of ultimate power. They often fight against the Jedi, who try to stop the Sith from doing evil.

Abilities between the two sides of the Force vary wildly. For example, the Dark Side are able to use Force Lightning by channelling all of their hatred and anger into one attack. This ability is mostly used by Darth Sidious.
