The Christian Democratic Union (Spanish: Unión Demócrata Cristiana, UDC), formerly known as Popular Democracy (Spanish: Democracia Popular, DP) was a Christian democratic political party in Ecuador. It was formed in the 1970s by centrist Christian Democrats who had left the Social Christian Party and the left wing of the Conservative Party. It officially registered as a political party in 1979. It was originally seen as a centre-left party. Later in the 1990s, it shifted to the centre-right.
