The Deobandi movement (Urdu: جَمَاَعَةْ اَلْ  دِیُوُبٰنْدْ) is a revivalist movement in Sunni Islam that follows the Hanafi school of law and the Ash'ari or Maturidi school of thought. It started in the late 19th century, in Deoband, India. Their beliefs include that only Allah can be asked for help and are against innovations in religion (bid'ah). Deobandis are part of and are the founders of the Tablighi Jammat which is how they spread Islam.
