The Excelsior Library is a public library in Excelsior, Minnesota. It is a part of the Hennepin County Library system. The Excelsior Library was opened in 1922. Its current building was made in 2014.
The library was opened in 1922. It started in the building as the closed White House Hotel. The library was started by the Women's Club of Lake Minnetonka. The building was donated as a place to stay for the elderly.
In 1928, the library was moved to the Masonic Temple. The new location was disliked because of how far away it was and because of the stairs to get into the library. Because of this, it was moved again in 1932.
In 1946, it was moved to the village hall to be easier to access.
The first building that was made for the library only was opened in 1965.
The library was moved to its current building in September 2014. Plans for the library go back to 2011.
There are two main peices of art in the library. Gathering Together by Greg Preslicka in the main room, and Girl Reading by Malcolm Moran in the children's area.
