Farafra Oasis is an oasis in Egypt's Western Desert. It is about 300 kilometres (190 mi) west of Asyut. It is relatively sparesly populated, only 2.500 people live there. About 30 kilometres (19 mi) north of Farafra there is the White Desert, with white stone formations.
