Fars Province (Persian: استان فارس, Ostān-e Fārs ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is also historically known to foreigners as Farsistan, Persia, Parsa, Persis and is the historical homeland of the Persian people. Its capital is Shiraz. The majority religion is Shia although there is a minority Sunni Persians living in the province also.
