Hydroperoxide is the −OOH functional group: an oxygen atom bonded to another oxygen atom which is itself bonded to a hydrogen atom. Organic compounds that have this group are also called hydroperoxides.
A chemical that has a hydroperoxide connected to an acyl group is called an organic peroxy acid.
Hydroperoxides are chemical unstable compounds. A technical usage of such compounds is the sharpless epoxidation.
