An inflatable object is a piece of equipment that can have a gas, most likely air, be pumped inside to make it larger than it originally was. Inflatables can be used in many ways, whether its for decoration, travel, or even to bounce on and ride.
Many everyday items are considered inflatables, such as:
Most of the inflatables used by people are either meant to be sat, ridden, or bounced on, if not for recreational use. Some inflatables are durable enough to handle the pressure of a person's body weight, though most may not be. Typically, the more air that is inside an inflatable, the less bouncy it gets, and overinflating one may lead to it popping. If bounced on, some lighter, thinner inflatables such as beach balls or balloons may deflate or even pop, though stronger ones like bouncy castles or mattresses are strong enough to handle many people at once.
