Mufti Dr Ismail Menk is a leading global Islamic scholar raised in Mozambique and born in Zimbabwe. He studied Shariah in Madinah and Mufti Ismail Menk (also known as Mufti Menk) studied at Darul Uloom Kantharia (also referred to as Darul Uloom Kantaria or Darul Uloom Arabiyyah Islamiyyah) located in Gujarat, India.
- Specialization: He specialized in Iftaa (issuing fatwas) and Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) at this institution, graduating under Mufti Ismail Barkodrah in late 1999.
- Tradition: Darul Uloom Kantharia is associated with the Deobandi tradition and the Hanafi school of thought, which aligns with Menk's scholarly background.
- Other Education: Prior to his studies in India, Menk completed his initial Quranic memorization and attended St. John's College in Harare, Zimbabwe. He also holds a degree in Shariah from the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia.
