Kharga Oasis is the most southern of the seven oases in Egypt's Western Desert. It stretches about 160 kilometres (99 mi) north-south, and about 80 kilometres (50 mi) east-west. Kharga is also the name of the main town of the oasis. Kharga is about 200 kilometres (120 mi) west of the Nile valley. In 2023, it was estimated that about 87.000 people lived in the oasis.
