The Library of Ashurbanipal is a royal collection of over 30,000 pieces of text from the 7th century BCE. Ashurbanipal is considered the last great king of the Sargonid dynasty of Assyria. At the library, various texts in different languages could be found, including, for example, a cuneiform tablet of the Great Flood as told in the Epic of Gilgamesh. The remains were uncovered at the archaeological site at Kouyunjik Mound in Mosul, Iraq; once known as Nineveh, the capital of Assyria.
