Matthew "Matt" Nable (born March 8, 1972) is an Australian actor and writer. Before he became an actor, he was a professional rugby league player (rugby league is a team sport, a kind of football played by two teams who try to carry the ball over the other team's line).

Early life and rugby

Nable was born in Sydney, Australia. In the 1990s, he played rugby league for two clubs, the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Acting and writing

After he stopped playing sport, Nable wrote a movie called The Final Winter (2007). The film is about rugby league, and Nable also acted in it. This was how he began his acting career.

He then acted in Australian television shows, such as the crime dramas Underbelly and East West 101. Later he acted in bigger Hollywood films, including Killer Elite (2011) and Riddick (2013). On the American superhero TV series Arrow, he played the villain Ra's al Ghul.

Nable has kept acting in many films and TV shows. His later work includes the TV series Barracuda, Mr Inbetween, and The Twelve. He also works as a writer and director.
