A mixed-breed dog is a dog that is of more than one breed. For example, a Labradoodle is a dog with genes of both Labrador Retriever and poodle.
Other words for a mixed-breed dog are mongrel or mutt, or often in the media, generically as dog or canine. This happens often in movies, TV shows, animation, comics, and even books by various authors. Dav Pilkey is a frequent example, with Diaper Dog from Super Diaper Baby being classed as a dog. Big Nate also plays with this as well.
