NHL 18 is an ice hockey video game. It was published by EA Sports and was developed by EA Canada. It is the 27th game in the NHL series.

It was released worldwide on September 15, 2017. It was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The game introduced a new mode called NHL Threes which is a three-on-three mode which is played in a smaller rink and features more arcade-style gameplay. EA also upgraded the defensive gameplay with the debut of Defensive Skill Stick which allowed players and AI to poke check, deke, and block shots better. NHL 18 also saw the debut of the Vegas Golden Knights, who had joined the league that season. New league included are the HockeyAllsvenskan, Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL), and Champions Hockey League.

On June 21, 2017, it was announced during the NHL Awards ceremony that Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers was chosen as the cover athlete for NHL 18.

Reception

The game received positive reviews by game critics. Critics said that they liked the new training mode to help new players learn the game and they enjoyed the NHL Threes mode. However, critics also felt that the game's gameplay and presentation were repetitive while not making many new additions to the gameplay.
