Physalaemus maximus is a frog. It lives in Brazil.

Home

This frog can only live in forests where the branches come together like a roof. People see it on the dead leaves on the ground. Scientists have seen this frog between 1,000 and 1,400 m (3,300 and 4,600 ft) above sea level.

Scientists have seen the frog in a protected place, Parque Estadual Serra do Brigadeiro. Scientists think it could also live in Parque Estadual Serra Do Ouro Branco, Parque Estadual Do Itacolomi, and Reserva Particular Do Patrimônio Natural Águia Branca.

Young

This frog lays eggs in nests made out of bubbles. The nests float on the water. The tadpoles swim in the water.

Danger

Scientists from the IUCN say this frog is in some danger of dying out. People change the places where the frogs live to make farms, tree farms, places for animals to eat grass, and dams for electricity.
