The River Loxley is a river in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It flows through the Loxley Valley before joining the River Don at Malin Bridge.
The river starts in the hills of the Peak District near Bradfield. It flows through High Bradfield and Low Bradfield, where it feeds into the reservoirs at Bradfield.
The River Loxley then travels east through the Loxley Valley. It passes through the areas of Damflask, Stacey Bank and Rowell Bridge.
The river meets the River Rivelin at Malin Bridge, and soon after this it joins the River Don.
The Loxley Valley is a rural valley with woods, fields and historic industrial sites. The valley is popular for walking, cycling and nature watching. Many old mills once stood along the river during Sheffield’s cutlery and metalworking years.
The River Loxley was heavily affected by the Great Sheffield Flood of 1864. When the Dale Dyke Dam burst, a large wave of water flowed down the Loxley Valley. It caused serious damage to homes, factories and farms, and many people lost their lives.
