Career highlights and awards

Royce Alexander White (born April 10, 1991) is an American politician and former professional basketball player. He was the Republican Party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in the 2024 election. He is currently running for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2028 presidential election.

White played in the National Basketball Association with the Sacramento Kings in 2014. Originally, he was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2012, though he never played with them.

Career

Basketball

White was picked by the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft. While White did not play for the Rockets, he played in three games for the Sacramento Kings in 2014. During his basketball career, his mental health problems, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), became an issue with the team. He also played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and the Reno Bighorns of the NBA G League. From 2016 to 2018, White played for the London Lightning of the NBL Canada, winning an NBL Canada championship and an MVP award.

Politics

At first, he supported the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. In 2022, he became involved in politics. He ran an unsuccessful campaign in the Republican primary for Minnesota's 5th congressional district as a right-wing populist.

In 2024, White ran as the party's nominee for the U.S. Senate, losing to incumbent Amy Klobuchar. Two years later, he unsuccessfully ran for the party's U.S. Senate nomination again in 2026, this time finishing third place. His campaigns became known for supporting conspiracy theories.

2028 presidential campaign

On August 12, 2026, after he lost the Republican nomination in the 2026 U.S. Senate primary, White announced that he would run for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2028 presidential election.
